Website Marketing

All businesses, no matter where they are or what they do, need to be actively marketed to keep updated in the eyes of potential customers... and website marketing is no different.

Can you count the ways for website promotion?  Yes, but they are rolling out fast. Yesterday it was website banners; today it is social media, tomorrow it is...?

Of course, offline website marketing is a no-brainer, and perfect for marketing local business websites.  Some examples are:

  • Put your website address on your business cards and stationery
  • Do a mail-out promotion with specials from your website
  • Collect clients email addresses or business cards (with their permission) perhaps with a competition in your shop, and then do an e-zine with links back to your website.
  • Trade shows, markets, notice boards, networking, business groups and local media are all useful to promote your business and point people to your website to get more information.

 What about online website marketing?

Ah ha, this is where is gets to be fun because it's a whole new ball game.  Some of these bright, new, shiny balls you can toss around to play the game are:

  • Submit to Online Directories
  •  Affiliate Marketing
  • Viral Marketing, eg: Social Media such as Facebook, StumbleUpon, etc
  • Website and Email advertising, such as banners and paid or reciprocal links.
  • Search Engine advertising, such as Adwords

What is Adwords?

Google's got it wrapped up if you want to market a web site locally or globally. There are others, such as Konterra, but Google's Adwords is tops.

You sign up and agree to a CPC (cost per click) price for a specific word or phrase you want to promote, such as Organic Chocolates.

Your small advertisement appears in other websites with complimentary themes, or on Google's search results pages.  When clicked on it sends each visitor to a landing page on your website, such as your sales page or your e-zine sign-up page.

You have no doubt seen Adwords on many websites under "Ads by Google" or under the "Sponsored Ads" in the Google search results.
